Congratulations Doğu Erdener and Iris-Corinna Schwarz

15 October 2007

It is with great pleasure that we announce that doctoral theses (see below) by Iris and Doğu have been duly examined and passed with flying colours.

Dr Doğu Erdener - Development of Auditory -Visual Speech Perception in Young Children

Dr Iris-Corinna Schwarz - Speech Perception, Phonological Sensitivity, and Articulation in Early Vocabulary Development

Iris and Doğu are now eligible to graduate with the PhD degree and will do so early next year in the University of Western Sydney graduation ceremony, and at an Appointed Time and Place for the real graduation ceremonies at MARCS.

Both Doğu and Iris worked hard not only in, but also before their PhD work. Iris travelled many a mile to be here, and Doğu gamely battled through early preconditions to take up PhD.

Both Iris Doğu aspire to careers in research and are looking around for postdoctoral fellowship positions. Iris is currently working in the Department of Linguistics at Stockholm University, and Doğu is currently working at MARCS Auditory Laboratories at the University of Western Sydney.

We salute two determined, resourceful, and talented researchers, and send to them into the world with our very best wishes!
